The Dakota Days parade was a great success for our CSA! But it was a
cold ride on dads old John Deere. Our production is now DONE outside.
We came very close to our original CSA estimate of 5mo X 4weeks= 20
weeks of produce for you our original CSA members. Thank you to each
and every one of you for your continued support! Yes this year was a
very difficult year to start our CSA, but we remain committed to the
Community to “do the Right Thing at the Right place at the right
time”! 15% of Americans today are now living in poverty. So we ask you
to continue your support into 2013 by now renewing your share (which
will now be good for the next 12 months), and of course by inviting
your family and friends. Our new business plan with irrigation can
increase our fresh local produce over 4 times, and with our new 4
seasonal high tunnel production efforts we expect “Fresh High Quality
Production 8-9 months/year. So that’s our vision that we want to share
with you and our Community especially those in need.
Now to your produce shares this week:
Tomatoes and peppers are done for this year! We have lots of spaghetti
Squash, some small pie pumpkins, a few large pumpkins, and now fresh
greens from the greenhouse Lettuce, Arugula, Spinach, Beet greens,
Radishes and Kohlrabi greens, Rutabaga and Turnip greens. The new
plantings of cabbage, Cauliflower Broccoli, Brussel sprouts are now
up in the green house, I expect harvest on the Brassicas in about 60
days.
Lastly we have family coming after lunch on Saturday, so we will
start @ 9 am and end at noon see you Saturday am.
Sincerely, Sam and Heidi Heikes
