It’s late and I am tired and it’s been a very busy week so I’ll make it short… lots of planting, a very nice rain, and 1st cultivation is done on everything that’s up… garlic, potatoes, onions, leeks and sweet corn. Most of the small seeded crops planted on the 23rd are up with a nice stand. Greenhouse production is fading after some 120° and asparagus wants to move into the reproduction mode… seeding out… maybe a week or 2 of harvest left. Over 500 tomatoes are planted, ½ are heirloom varieties, sweet and hot peppers are going in. Check out Heidi’s Facebook video posting today. We will then move to brassicas… broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and Brussels, then one more sweet corn.
If you care about sustainable food production in the world, check out the May issue of the National Geographic magazine: “The food revolution” they will carry articles about our world’s food production each month over the next year! Our community concern over sustainable food production is growing dramatically! We do still have some CSA shares available.
The summer weather is finally here… full blast…
