Finally a little relief to the heat! Yesterday a little thunder and 40 drops of cool rain… So hand watering continues to keep our crops alive! In the nation’s heartland USDA now says 26% of land is in severe drought! For you it looks like a pretty good harvest this week. We will try a 2 row potato digger on the tractor tomorrow, hope it works on our hard dry soil! We still have lots of very nice Red and White potatoes, good new pick on fresh tomatoes and peppers, nice pick on greens: Swiss Chard, now some rainbow Swiss chard,(a very attractive green,) some Kolarabi still left, lots of nice Ruby Red beets and finally our 1st picking of Ambrosia Sweet corn, the peski raccoons took a hit! Seeding plans are nearly complete for an August seeding in our new seasonal high tunnel, that harvest should be October to December
See you Saturday 10 am-2pm
Sincerely, Sam Heikes
