Beautiful weather continues for us here! Devastating weather last week with the extremes of tornadoes in Southeast, and terrible blizzards out in the hills. I know a lot of those ranchers out west… they lost a lot of livestock and need our prayers (up to 75,000 head). We continue to irrigate the dry soil where we can… Asparagus, orchard, sweet potatoes, and brussel sprouts. For those who did not make it to the parade or pickup last week, our float won 1st prize for the community class! Thanks to Geraldine the designer… Although I was told today to be careful mentioning jacks in coyote country in our weekly emails… Ok!
This week we have: lots and lots of tomatoes and sweet potatoes, kale, chard, radish, beets, parsnips, brussel sprouts, pumpkins, squash, watermelon, some peppers, (mostly hot), lettuce,
spinach, arugula, herbs and ornamental sunflowers. We also have lots of apples and pears.
Friday am we have 120 Austin school kindergartners coming to our 1st Heikes farm “pumpkin patch tour”…
should be fun… good place to promote our family shares for this next year… still working on our goal of 150 CSA shareholders.
Hope to see you on Saturday
