Dear friends and shareholders,
We will not have CSA distribution this week. If you need some fresh produce next week just call me We do plan to have distribution next Saturday. The frost last night was hard… our 3rd frost… our first hard frost took out tomatoes, basil, peppers, some cover crop, and some other herbs. The rain was wonderful! New planted garlic has sprouts and roots, the biggest new broccoli heads are golf ball size… Should be ready in about 2 weeks… nice crop coming. We are advertising “free pumpkins” to kids under 8 next week. We also have lots of brussel sprouts, parsnips, and sweet potatoes to come. One of our new shareholders made a sweet potato pie for me on Sunday afternoon and it was fantastic! It was hot out of the oven… no
more pumpkin pie for me for Thanksgiving. We dug 200# of sweet potatoes from 1 row tonight… 10 rows to go… Try the pie recipe. Looks like some real cold weather maybe coming next week, so Leonard has been making new doors for the greenhouse to keep the salad greens warm for you… into December. Our new membership drive is now underway… our goal is 150 personal shareholders, and 25 commercial shareholders. Thank you to those who have renewed your share! Now is when we farmers plan our new crop plantings and marketing. Our moisture is very good and we look forward to next year’s good crops.
See you next Saturday
Sam and Heidi
