On all saints, hallowed eve we greet you from our farm. How did pumpkins become associated with Halloween anyways…!
More nice rain to end the growing season outside… between 1-1 ½ inches this week, and 2 ½ inches last week It was wet digging sweet potatoes and parsnips all the way down to 18” today. What a great end to a good growing season!
On Saturday morning we will still have a nice variety of fresh produce for you: all the sweet potatoes, and parsnips you want, the greenhouse is yielding nice greens, lettuce, spinach, arugula, chard, and nice radishes. We planted more basil and parsley in the greenhouse, the new garlic is now up nicely and the new broccoli loves this nice cool wet weather, should have some for you next week. Big crop of brussel sprouts are ready. There are a few Harrolson apples left. The only herbs we have left after the 3 light frosts are tarragon, English thyme, and sage.
We will start cleaning up the fields next week, removing residue, doing deep tillage, and spreading feed lot manure for fertilizer. We are now planning our planting plan for next spring, we need to know who will be renewing their CSA share and how many new shares to sell, please let us know of your plans.
Thank you
Sincerely, Sam and Heidi
