I was sitting at home in the porch last night at 7Pm, it was about 70 degrees in the porch at sunset on an early spring day. It was a cold morning yesterday, icy frozen, cloudy, overcast, and before noon the greenhouse temp was 60 degrees, the geese were moving North and, Crows were bunching in the fields and trees. Clean up in the grove continues at home. The daylight savings sun broke out around 2 pm yesterday and the greenhouse temp went up to 90 degrees by midafternoon, the robins are back saying their ready! The ice melted. After the snow the rabbits are chewing the bark on the new fruit trees… got to stop that!
With the rain and snow together Saturday we had an inch of moisture, I thank God- we only need 8 more to recharge our
subsoil back to normal.
The Spring Community Supported Agriculture membership drive continues!
Notice our ads this week. Our goal is 80 Personal shares and 25 commercial shares by the 1st day of spring which is March 20th! We are currently at around 57 shares, some of you have renewed and some have not renewed, and we now have around 14 commercial shares. We still have Honey for members who have not called, or new shareholders that have just joined our CSA.
We hope to have a Spring Event out here at the farm, for all our shareholders when the snow is gone and the weather warms. Farmer Sams garden greens are about a month away from first harvest in the greenhouse. We hope to have new potatoes and onions planted by good Friday. Lent, Easter, and spring greens are a very special time for our family as Christians.
We will advise you of the event date later…
Sincerely Sam and Heidi
