Another nice early spring day! We worked outside all day
cleaning up the grove and burning. The greenhouse was very warm this afternoon
when I watered. “Farmer Sam’s salad greens” are finally doing well, but the
carrots are still slow. The geese are everywhere waiting for warmth to move
north. The robins and black birds are back, but the worms are not up yet. The
certified organic garlics have new green sprouts, but are not through the ground
yet. I saw a fresh gopher mount today, my tractor is serviced and cleaning, and
is ready to go, but my planter is not yet. Potatoes’ and onions will go in first
on the tract west of the house, but the soil is still too cold.
We picked up several new commercial shares this week: one in Yankton, and
one in Beresford, that is very encouraging for me. We hope to know how many total shareholders
we will have by planting time.
We wish you and your family a Joyous
Easter, as new spring life comes fourth.
Sincerely, Sam and
Heidi
