Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a moderately new term here in the United States, but it is one that has been gaining momentum since it's introduction in the mid-1980's. In basic terms, a CSA consists of a community of individuals who pledge support to a farm operation, where essentially the farmland becomes the community farm. Growers and consumers provide the mutual support to help the farm succeed, while also sharing in the risks and benefits that result from food production. Members are typically called "shareholders" of the farm and support the farm by paying for a season's worth of produce up front. Understanding that natural food systems are never fully predictable or controllable, shareholders are willing to accept some of the risks of farming. In compensation, these shareholders receive a healthy portion of the available produce once a week for the entire growing season. Also you will receive a 1 pound bottle of fresh raw local honey from our farm!

As a Heikes Family Farm shareholder, we offer buffet style distribution, so you can choose the produce that you want for your family for the week.
Though not certified organic, our produce is all organically-grown, without treatment from any chemicals or pesticides. We truly value the relationships we have been able to develop with our shareholders, and we ensure you will enjoy the community environment we provide at the farm. We offer seasonal events like the Pumpkin Patch and further giving you an opportunity to see where your food comes from and how it is grown. Shareholders also receive a weekly newsletter that keeps you informed on what kinds of produce are available for each pick up date, updates on seasonal changes, and even recipes and storage tips for all your produce.. Last yet quite possibly most important, you'll receive the satisfaction of knowing you are supporting a local farming family and food hub promoting a broader shift toward a sustainable local food production and sustainable local economy.
