What a big week of planting for our CSA customers at the Heikes Farm. As you can see we are now a Legal “Limited Liability Corporation” (LLC). We finished planting our new orchard last week: 70 trees: apples, pears, plums, cherries, and apricots, a few buds just came out this week. New Asparagus is up nicely, and looking wonderful. Seed potatoes have all sprouted, but nothing has come up yet. The first planting of sweet corn is just starting to sprout. We planted about 5,000 onions and 1,000 leeks last week Saturday. We also planted Lettuce, Arugula, Spinach, Kale, Swiss chard, Cilantro, Coriander, 3 varieties of Radishes, 2 varieties of sugar snap peas, 2 varieties of parsley, and we also weeded the garlic! What a long busy productive week we had. What a blessing it rained over 2” the last 3 days, we are wet and we are happy! We are ready for sun, wind, and warmer weather for growth.
Sincerely,
Sam Heikes
